35 Week Pregnancy Update

I just got back from my 35 week OB and everything still seems to get going well. I measured 36 cm and weighed 149 lbs. So far I've gained over 30 pounds (about 4 in the last two weeks)! I am having a lot of people tell me that they can tell I've gotten bigger in just the last two weeks and I guess my previous sentence backs those comments up. I do feel like I am "rounding" out and am bumping into things with my belly a lot more than before. Today at work Janice said "Your baby really sticks out pretty far!" and I had people at the spa last night ask if I was due any day now! See for yourself in this picture that John took on Tuesday night (just before bed, thus the pj's).

Yes, you read correctly above. I did write S-P-A, spa. For my birthday, John got me a gift certificate for a "Mommy-to-be Pampering Package" and I am taking advantage of it between last night and tomorrow morning. Last night I got a pedicure and manicure and Saturday morning before our baby shower. The lady who did my nails told me that she's had women go into labor during pedicures before as a result of the leg and foot massage which hits all the pressure points. She did go light on me and I'm still here! Not ready for the baby yet!

We are getting more prepared for the arrival, however. Since my last post, we've gone to our birthing classes which taught us breathing techniques and gave us a tour of the beautiful birthing suites and postpartum rooms. We also went to a baby care class, painted the nursery a very soothing light green and got the crib up. The nursery is definitely taking shape. With the help of our parents, we were able to paint the nursery, move in the fish tank, glider rocking chair, bookshelf and changing table all last weekend! (I just noticed that the nursery color is similar to the background of the blog. Hopefully most of you will also get to see it in person but I will try to get pics up after everything's in order.)

Along with gaining the weight and bigger comes the fun of getting more awkward and slow down. Up until just a few weeks ago I could still keep up with most people while walking. It is getting a lot harder to walk fast now and notice myself getting more out of breath. Luckily, at our new work location I was placed pretty close to both the printer and restroom, both of which I use very often! Next week I start my 24 hour work weeks and am really looking forward to relaxing at home a little more and getting even more prepared for the baby. 5 more weeks - I know these weeks will fly and Baby Lewis will be here before we know it!
