Sprechen Sie Coo?

Megan was extremely talkative tonight so I made quick video to capture her babblings. She seems to have a lot to say lately and it is so fun listening to her experiment and learn what her cute little voice can do. If you watch to the very end you will see that she is also getting pretty good at drooling, spitting and blowing bubbles - thanks to her awesome cousin Alexa.

What do you think Megan is trying to tell us?

Staand!

Megan's new favorite game is a game Daddy discovered. We call it "Staand!" Megan's legs are getting stronger every day and she likes to show them off by standing on our laps. By supporting her under the arms, she is able to stand up on her own. We used to have to give her a little "lift-off" but lately she has been doing the initiating. Now we just balance her and let her do the rest. You should see how proud she looks when we give cheers of praise.  She can only support herself for a few seconds but seeing the smiles on her face is priceless.  It almost always is able to calm her down when she is on edge, especially when Daddy plays the game with her.

Megan at 2 Months

Last Friday Megan turned two months old.  I can't believe how time is flying.  She is getting bigger and stronger every day and also getting more fun every day.  She has been smiling responsively for a couple weeks now (especially when she sees momma), is talking up a storm and becoming more independent.

On Friday we also had a doctor's appointment and a couple shots.  She was a real show-off.  When the doctor put Megan on her tummy on the exam table she held her head up the highest she's ever held it up.  She had her legs going with strong crawling movements as she balanced on the tip of her tummy.  The doctor said babies roll over around 4 months but Megan will probably be a lot sooner since her legs are so strong.  Megan can get herself onto her side already (and does it quite often) so I think it will be soon too.  For instance, on Saturday I put Megan on the floor to play for about 20 minutes by herself and in that time she rotated herself 90 degrees as she played and wiggled reaching for her toys.

Here is a run-down of Megan's stats from the past few months to track her growth:
Birth:
Weight - 8 lbs 6 oz
Height - 19 1/2 inches
Head - 13 1/4 inches
1 Month:
Weight - 9 lbs 14 oz
Height - 21 1/4 inches
Head - 14 3/4 inches
2 Month:
Weight - 12 lbs 6 oz
Height - 23 inches
Head - 15 1/4 inches

The following are pictures of Megan from Mother's Day and her 2 month birthday.  As always, check out my Picasa page for more pictures.

Ridin' in Style

Since Megan's birth we have been a pretty active family.  There haven't been too many days that we didn't take Megan out of the house.  Even though we have been busy doesn't mean that we've gone on too many walks around the neighborhood, especially last week with the awful weather.  Since this is my last week of maternity leave and the weather is supposed to be gorgeous all week long, I am determined to take my baby girl on lots walks and take advantage of our stroller and the sunshine.  With the sun shining, I dressed her in shorts, T-shirt, and a cute hat that I scored at a garage sale last week.  She didn't like the hat very much at first (probably felt like a dog when they're dressed in those funny outfits) but as soon as we started walking she relaxed and enjoyed every minute.
