Too Cute Tuesday

Hey, Mom! I dumped the toy basket over!

Oops... I did it again!

Oh, and by the way... I can pull myself up on my piano now.... See!
I help Daddy win his games!

Not Me Monday

Hope everyone's week is off to a good start.  John had to work all weekend again.  But I had a really nice weekend with Megan.  We didn't go anywhere except grocery shopping and church.  It was such a nice change of pace.  It was a pretty slow week last week but this is what I've got.

Megan was not having issues with sleeping last week.  I guess I've been a bit spoiled lately.  We've been so used to her sleeping 10+ hours at a time so getting up 1-2 times a night last week was killing me.  She just cut two more teeth and I think that's what the big problem was.

We did not have a drug bust at work last Thursday.  You can read the story here and it was actually quite exciting.  The U.S. Marshall and Police walked in past our cubes and into the warehouse to look for the people.  Two gals were arrested for selling marijuana.  Too bad one of them happened just got promoted to be one of our leads on the AT&T account in our Call Center.  Needless-to-say, we didn't get much done after lunch that day.  Things like this don't usually happen at our work.

I am not completely sick of hauling my own water to work every day.  For some reason I have to drink a lot of water throughout the day.  A month ago our bottled filter water was taken away as a cost savings initiative (along with our plastic utensils and who knows what else).  As an afterthought, they are going to put a bottle-free filter system in, but who knows when that will happen.  Anyways, I hadn't screwed one of the lids onto my bottle completely and I had standing water in my cloth lunch bag... ugh........  The worst thing is that's not the first time that's happened!

John did not find out that Kwik Trip is no longer honoring their milk coupons.  So sad.  Apparently they can't take them anymore since there aren't any competitors around and the state has set a minimum milk price.  But, I guess their bagged milk is still a little cheaper than most other places.

Have a good week, everyone!  Should be a nice fall week.

6 Month Photos

I think we're going to bring Megan in next weekend to get professional six month pictures taken, but I went ahead and snapped a few of my own this morning.  Here are the ones I like the best.  To view them all, click here.

So Many Suckeys... So Little Time...

In her glory!
They all taste so good!
How does one choose?!?

You don't.  You just use them all... one at a time!

Tonight I put Megan in her high chair with three of her pacifiers.  For those of you who don't know, she has a slight addiction to her suckeys.  Whenever she spots one she just has to have it and tonight was no exception.  It was as if she couldn't get them into her mouth fast enough.  And since there were multiple pacifiers, she wanted them all!  I took a short video of Megan anxiously spitting out one suckey only to replace it quickly with another awaiting one.  See the short clip here.  My favorite parts are the times when she gets two in her mouth at once!  She could have gone on and on and on...

1st Vikings Game

John was happy when I came home from a garage sale (where else!) with this Vikings cheerleader outfit for Megan.  She wore it yesterday for her 1st Vikings game.  It was nice that her and Daddy could watch the game together (or at least a couple minutes), especially since John didn't have to work this Sunday.
What sporting event is complete without Stadium music!  Megan thinks of everything!

Not Me Monday

It's been a few weeks again.  I know I had many things to write about but these are all I can think of.  The last one's a good one though...

I was not glad that I work until 5, especially last Monday.  Apparently I missed a really awful diaper change which resulted in an early bathtime for Megan.  She destroyed her outfit and two changing pads with her mud-like poo.  I guess Megan also gave Grandpa Lewis a blowout which too resulted in use of the tub to get clean.

I did not get a big "Thank You" from John after buying Megan more toys at recent garage sales.  And here I was worried I spent too much on them.  John had soooo much fun playing yesterday afternoon.  After all, Daddies need to try out the toys before handing them over to their babies.

John said, "Megan just doesn't underand the full potential of this game yet" as she watched from a distance.  I did make short videos of each of these Daddy play sessions.  I am not going to post the videos on the blog but leave a comment and I can send you the link.  They are both pretty entertaining.

We did not finally get our TV hung on the wall.  We found a wall mount and shelves at a garage sale for $35 but the mount was too small for the TV at first.  Luckily, my dad was able to build something to convert it to work for the set.  With it up on the wall it frees up a lot of floor space.  We also packed up the baby swing since Megan's not using it.  We actually have the entire area rug free now!

I do not have a bad habit of peeling and eating hard-boiled eggs on the way to work in the morning.  I have a good system of getting the shell off in just a couple motions.  I left in a hurry last Tuesday and quickly grabbed a couple eggs out of the fridge.  I was not surprised to find out that the eggs I had grabbed were not hard-boiled, but RAW!  Luckily, I didn't crack it very hard so I didn't get egg all over - just a little on my fingers.  That was a close one!

Megan at 6 Months

I was waiting until Megan's 6 month well visit to post her stats and give you the monthly update.  Her appointment was on Friday and this is how she stands.
Weight - 18 lbs - 80%
Height - 26 1/4 inches - 70%
Head - 17 inches - 75%
Megan really surprised the doctor when she walked into the room and saw Megan sitting on the floor playing with the tissue paper from the exam table.  Especially since not all babies can do that by their 6 month birthday.  We definitely have a healthy baby on our hands and this is what Megan's been up to lately...
In the few weeks after her 5 month birthday Megan really started to sit up well on her own... about 20 minutes at a time in her playpen.  She started to reach for objects with her entire body and with gusto!  Megan also got pretty strong and if you were holding her while she got excited you'd better be holding tight or she's squirm right out of your arms!  She also started to reach her arms out to "come" to people.
It was just in the beginning of September that Megan started to get physical.  In the 2 weeks before her 6 month birthday (2 1/2+ weeks before this post) Megan started to do her "baby pushups".  She liked to push up with her hands and get on her tiptoes.  It didn't take long until she started moving backwards.  Almost every other day was something new.  First put a knee down when in push-up position.  Then started kicking legs behind her.  Next was being able to go from laying on her tummy to sitting up as well as rocking back & forth on hands & knees.  By just last Friday she was crawling wobbily across the area rug.  While not exactly crawling, Megan knows how to get from point A to point B.  She will do the crawling motions with her arms and sort of drag her legs behind her.  Her lower legs get crossed behind her and don't quite have the coordination yet, but it won't be long!  Along the way are of course lots of starts and stops to sit up and turn around.
Other milestones are:
  • Being able to sit in the shopping cart without the carrier.  Besides, that thing is so hard to lift up there and we don't like carrying her in it if we don't have to.
  • Fitting into the 6-9 month clothes.  What good timing with the change of seasons!
  • Having another tooth show up - I put my finger in Megan's mouth yesterday and felt something sharp!  It was her middle left tooth on the top!
  • Trying formula.  Since I'm starting to wean myself off of the pump it's time to introduce formula to Megan's diet.  She's only had a handful of bottles so far and not sure yet what she thinks of it.  Up until now it's only been mom-juice.  Doing 1/3 formula - 2/3 breastmilk to start.  There's a fair amount of milk in the freezer and hopefully she learns to like the formula soon.  I'm just praying there is no bad reaction to it.
  • First runny nose showed up yesterday.  One advantage of not going to daycare is that Megan has not been sick at all thus far.  This runny nose was passed on from cousin Alexa and it's probably good that Megan get exposed to a little bit of these germs in the long run.
It's probably just a matter of days until Megan gets the hang of crawling and then she'll be into everything!  I know our lives will never be easy again, but it's definitely all worth it.  Having Megan is such a blessing and we are so proud of our little girl and everything she learned in these 6 short months.

Too Cute Tuesday

FINALLY, a use for those spaghetti portioners!
Recently, Megan actually really enjoys playing with this thing and it makes for a great high-chair toy.

"Great-Aunt" Jenny brought Megan a Lowe's puppy during her trip to Minnesota that we named "UMP".  Poor Megan looks so confused.... How's the little girl supposed to make up her mind now!

Too Cute Tuesday

Bet you thought I wouldn't do it again this week... Just because I don't always write doesn't mean we still aren't snapping photos and keeping busy with other things.  Enjoy some of the latest moments.

Loves smiling for the camera in one of her favorite outfit.  Also loves the fun songs this toy plays.

Daddy holds Megan upside down and sways her back and forth.
Megan says "Daddy rocks my world" and "Mommy, I rock!"

Just like Winnie-the-Pooh, Megan is "stuck again"...

It is so nice that she is sitting up by herself soooo well.  She actually likes playing by herself (at least for a short while) in her playpen.  One time she stayed sitting alone with her toys for 20 minutes.

I think Megan's favorite part about diaper changes is she gets to play with the lamp after we're done, or in this case during, since she couldn't wait until it was over.  She also likes to sit up and grab hold of the changing table railings to pull herself forwards.  Rolling over on the table is also pretty fun!

Baby push-ups!  She's been doing these for almost a week now.  Not going forward yet, but pretty good at moving backwards and starting to use roll every-which-way.

See Alexa, I have one too!  Aren't our pianos the greatest!  Maybe we can play a duet sometime.  Auntie Rachel taught me to play Chopsticks!

Sitting so well and so proud of it!
