Scheduled Induction

My doctor's nurse called me yesterday to have me come in this morning instead of Friday for another check-up since I hadn't delivered yet.  I was still 2.5 cm dilated and still 60% effaced so no progress had been made since last Friday.  Dr. Johnston's suggestion was to schedule an elective induction.  The hospital was booked for this Friday so the earliest we could get in would be this coming Tuesday.  The plan is for me to go to the hospital on Monday night so they can start a procedure to ripen my cervix and then Tuesday morning they would start me on the Pitocin.  I did have a non-stress test today also and everything looked just fine.

Keep praying that Bib will stop being so stubborn and come out on its own without having to go through the induction process.  But however it happens, we should have a baby by next Tuesday!

Our Waiting Game & New Toys

This was not an easy weekend for us.  After the doctor said the baby would probably make a move this weekend  (they should never tell you that in the first place - my real doctor never would have said that!) that's all we could think of.  I know all of you are patiently waiting, but you should see John!

Friday I pretty much took it easy with the exception of our ritual of going and walking Target.  This is getting to be quite the expensive destination.  I used up the last of the black ink in one of our printers so we had to buy a couple new cartridges since our other printer was out of color ink as well.

Saturday I tried a different approach and kept myself busy around the house.  Since I know I won't want to do much housework after the baby comes I took this time to clean our floors.  I moved every single carpet square and vaccumed them all.  I also swept and swiffered every corner of the downstairs.  We even moved the couch and went under the big rug!  Yeah, I'm a little sore now, but the floor looks great!

We decided that since this yesterday, Sunday, was probably going to be one of our last days to sleep in we skipped church and I made John a waffle breakfast.  Yum!  Then we had another costly outing.  Our contracts were up on our phones and my Rumor only let me talk for 5 minutes before the battery completely drained so we decided it was time to make the switch.  John had been patiently waiting for about a year for a new phone since he is a gadget geek and bored with his Palm Treo.  After we picked out the phones we wanted we found out that John's phone of choice couldn't be activated on our current plan.  And basically our current plan (which was a very good deal) wasn't even available anymore.  We bit the bullet and got the cheapest plan that would work even though quite a bit more $$/month.  We both now have internet and data usage, unlimited texting, GPS, and more minutes than we could possibly use per month.  I decided on a little better phone too since I would now have all these features.  John ended up with the HTC Hero and I have the Palm Pixi.  They are both so pretty and nice and we are trying to get used to the touch screens.  So, yesterday afternoon and evening we were pretty distracted with our new toys!  At least this kept our minds off of the baby!

Then it was back to work for both of us today where we both got asked by many people "What are you doing here!"  I guess we will just keep playing our waiting game!

40 Week Check-up

Yesterday morning I had my 40 week check-up.  The nurse and doctor both asked what I was doing here on my due date and why I wasn't down the street at the other building, meaning the hospital.  Believe me, I'd be there is this little one would cooperate!

The doctor did the cervical exam and told me that I was now diliated to a 2.5 and 60% thinned out.  She said she wouldn't be surprised if things started to happen this weekend!  I was excited to hear that I had made some progress from last week and that it's getting so close!  When I got home from work on Thursday (my last work day of the week), I told John I didn't want to go back to work on Monday.  We'll see what happens!

My stomach continues to itch like crazy.  I think I might have pregnancy hives or something because the whole thing is covered in little bumps.  The doctor said to just use some hydrocortizone cream to relieve the itchiness, but that has yet to be the cure-all for my skin.  Besides itchy, the belly is kind of getting beat up with me running into things with it.  There are a few spots on it where I only need to knick it with a tiny object and it sends out a shot of pain.  Hopefully Bib will come soon and end these problems!  But I guess if these are the worst of my worries then I'm doing pretty well.

Now that Bib's arrival is really getting closer, we're trying to get a few more things wrapped up at home.  I would be doing more but I get really tired just from walking around the house and going up and down the stairs.  We got the car seat base installed finally and John was brave enough to tackle iTunes for me and get some music on my iPod for the labor & delivery room.  I got caught up on the dishes and John conquered the laundry pile, Mt. Lewis, so for the most part everything's clean.

John also is trying to keep me active by running errands with him around town and doing laps around Target.  Target's the biggest indoor place that we have here in Waconia so we are taking full advantage.  And I think Target is taking advantage of us too - can anyone really go there without spending money?

My Big Ego Boost for the Week

Thursday at work I briefly talked with two ladies who were at YA for a meeting.  Talking with the first one, she asked when I was due.  When I replied with "tomorrow", she told me that I looked really good for being that far along and she would have guessed that I was only 6 or 7 months.  Score!  Then the second lady joined the conversation and wanted to know when I was due too.  I again replied "tomorrow" and she said the same thing, that she thought I was only 6 months!

Well, you and I all know what I looked like at 6 or 7 months and this is not it.  In fact, I've had other people ask if I was ready to deliver when I was at 6 or 7 months.  Even if these ladies were just trying to be nice to me, at this stage of the game, I'll take whatever I can get!
